Report

A comprehensive review of superresolution image reconstruction methods - application on multi-angular hyperspectral satellite images

Authors: J. Ma, J. C-W Chan and F. Canters

Publication Date: Dec. 2008

Abstract:

Super resolution can produce a high resolution image from a set of low resolution images. The report presents a comprehensive overview of the superresolution (SR) technique, its application in remote sensing and the SR research direction for CHRIS-PROBA, a typical kind of multi-angular hyperspectral remote sensing images. Chapter 1 introduces the theoretical background of SR. Chapter 2 presents all conventional popular SR methods and their pros and cons. Important procedures in the SR processing chains are given with detailed explanations as well. Chapter 3 discusses advanced issues in relation to recent developments of the subject as well as the evaluation methods. Chapter 4 explains the application of SR in the remote sensing domain, and concludes with some thought on the use of SR to enhance multi-angular satellite images with multi-view Chris/Proba image in mind.
