Abstract: New Long-Range radio technologies have recently appeared in the IoT landscape. Combining the existing communicationprotocols with these novel radio technologies could increase the potential opportunities and the diversity of use casesfor Wireless Sensor Networks. In this paper, an implementation of a LoRa based sensor platform that uses the Contiki OS isproposed, in order to enable standardized IPv6 LoRa communications. This development will allow to expand state-of-the-artrouting protocols for WSNs (e.g. RPL), and to take advantage of this newly available radio technology. The feasibility of theintegration is demonstrated by presenting range measurements for a point-to-point link between two Contiki-enabled LoRamotes.
