Abstract: Allowing users and managers of existing buildingsto benefit from non intrusive Internet of Things (IoT) integrationis a great asset. IoT integration opens a plethora of new servicessuch as lighting and power-consumption management, indoorlocation-based services, surveillance etc. In this paper we showhow a DC lighting grid can be combined with wireless componentsto facilitate the deployment of routers/sensors and actuatorspowered by the DC lighting grid. These control devices can beplaced wherever in the building and communicate with the otherdevices in the network, wirelessly or via the PowerLAN availableon the DC grid. For organizing communications with the wirelessautonomous sensors and actuators, lightweight network stacks, including application layers based on CoAP or MQTT, aredeployed. External Link.
