Research Abstract

My research interests are largely concerned with the numerical aspects of retrospective geometrical image standardization, that being an essential part of digital subtraction radiography (DSR), as image acquisition in most applications cannot be repeated with exactly reproducible exposure geometry. Broadly speaking geometrical image standardization techniques fall into two broad classes. A first one is based on matching corresponding feature points between images to be registered. Image registration then consist in finding a geometrical transformation method that brings feature points closer together. An alternative is to find the optimal geometrical transformation directly from the gray values in the image. Particularly attractive application domains are diagnosis of dental caries and dental implantology. Furthermore, I am also working on the development of highly-realistic Finite Element (FE) electrostatic simulation models used in Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) and Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT).
